New Looks For Spring 2010

Many of the forthcoming spring looks can be reworked with existing pieces from previous seasons. The jumpsuit, the trench, the biker jacket and classic shirt dress are just a few of the styles which continue to be de-rigueur this spring. Boyfriend blazers get a 2010 makeover with floral prints too and tie-dye remerges with a vengance on the Blumarine runway.

If there are any clogs sitting in the closet then its time to give them an airing, as fashion footwear takes a sensible pill in terms of lower heels and chunkier clog-inspired footwear. 2010 also sees the re-emergence of the Kylie-style hotpant, but with hemlines even higher and legs even longer.

Key looks for Spring 2010 include:

Head-to-toe White

White is the new black, at least according to runway trends hailing from New York Fashion Week. Head-to-toe crisp white may not be the most practical of colors but whether it’s a classic shirtdresses or shorts and pants suits – the rule is go white head-to-toe. Many designers have taken a reality check in terms of transitional-pieces, in response to consumer demand for colors that will glide seamlessly from season to season. Beware the white shirt dress, however – remember to accessorize with some statement jewelry to minimize any danger of looking too matronly.

Lashings of Leather - Jackets and Pants

Whether it’s a soft leather jacket, skin-tight trousers or masculine boots, the leather biker look is hot hot hot for Spring (literally) With influences from Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga, expect to see lashings of leather in black, brown or tan. A butter-soft biker jacket has become a wardrobe staple whether 20-something or 50-something. This is one fashion piece well worth the investment.
