Kiki’s Favorite shopping sites

I LOVE shopping don’t you? Its so much fun to just go into a store and pick out what you want but its a lot easier online all you do is Click! Your order is placed.

You feel so happy that you want to more! I’m so fascinated by online shopping. You can find items that are not available in store and you can see an entire range of selections at once. Many online sites offer specials, discounts and free shipping that you won’t necessarily find when you walk into a store.

These are shopping site I absolutely LOVE.....

- Abercrombie.com

- Hollisterco.com

- Gillyhicks.com

- AE.com

- Aerie.com

These sites all have a lot in common for example they’re all owned by the first established company so its like a 2nd generation of companies that build a new image to catch one person’s eye (kids, teens or adults). All of these stores offer online shopping sites are really amazing! They all have an attraction to teens within the age groups of 13-19 they have a certain quality in clothing either their made from China or Italy. Let me tell you a little info about all of the stores:

Abercrombie is a really cool relaxed environment if you go into one of the stores you’ll see and smell what its like to be wearing Abercrombie. All Abercrombie & Hollister & Gillyhicks are from the same company they both market themselves in same similar ways. AE (which stands for American eagle outfitters and Aerie are both the same company,  Aerie  focus is lingerie  tween/teen. Here are a couple of pieces I love from their stores!
From Gilly hicks.com “Nicole” plunge racer back bra, Gilly hicks is known for good quality underwear. I love this bra it looks really pretty and unnoticeable. It also has racer back straps and lace detail to add that girly touch.

From AE: they have really cute jewelry, I like this genuine crystal heart stainless steel ring it goes with anything and makes a fun accessory!
From Aerie: a v-neck graphic tee

I like the way that this tee is just so care free! It goes with the best skinny jeans!

From Abercrombie: a really cute “never have I ever” tee

I love Abercrombie Fitch’s tees! They always have cute adorable sayings on them

From hollisterco.com: Laguna destroyed skinny jeans

These are the best skinny jeans on earth! I love these! Especially the hand –done destruction these are amazing & good quality jeans if you looking for that “so cal” look

Great Makeup Palettes for Travel

Okay girls, now you’re getting ready for your tip. You’ve packed everything except your makeup. What do you take with you? What do you leave behind? I have found that for us jetsetters, compact is the key. We need to have everything at our fingertips, but is must be portable.

Try a makeup palette, with blush, shadows and lips all in one great compact to help you create finishing touches you’ll love at work or at play.

Too Faced Naked Eye Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow collection is a great start. You’ll get great neutral and soft shimmer colors to take your look from dawn to dusk. It’s easy to pack and always ready to go. ($35) Find this at Sephora.

Smashbox Cream Eyeliner Palette is convenient and filled with 10 gorgeous shades to keep your eyes totally defined. ($32)Find this at Macy’s.

Bobbi Brown introduced a limited edition Denim & Rose Face Palette. It’s filled with a beautiful mixture of blue, grey and pink to brighten your eyes, blush your cheeks and shine your lips. ($60) Find this at Saks

Nars Everlasting Love 15 Year Anniversary Palette will help you achieve a glamorous and dramatic looks with soft cheeks, neutral lips and defined eyes. ($75) Available at Nars.com

Here are some tips when packing your makeup.

1. Only take what you need. If you haven’t used that blush you’ve been thinking about for the past few months, chances are you won’t use it when take it with you.

2. Take fresh mascara. Remember ladies, mascara should be replaced approximately every 3 months.

3. Travel brushes will fit in your bag. Your full size makeup brushes definitely need to go in your suitcase, but your travel set will fit into your bag.

4. Use a makeup case. Keep your makeup together, this way you’ll find what you need when you need it.

I would love your comments, suggestions and additions to this post.

5 Party Getaway Pieces For Weekend Trip

The last thing you want to worry about on a weekend getaway is what to wear when you’re getting ready. You ARE there to relax, right? The trick is to pack strategically. Pack light and build a color story. By packing items that complement each other in color and style, last minute mix and matching is a synch if the weather does an unexpected switch or you’re simply feeling indecisive. Of course where you're going for the weekend makes a huge difference - mountain climbing calls for a different wardrobe then a girls trip to South Beach.

So, for party girls like me (check out  http://www.ampartygirl.com/), I went on the hunt for looks on the streets and boutiques of NYC with my buddy and fellow blogger JamieJolie (LINK TO JAMIE'S BLOG). I spotted some inspiration pieces at Yamak, a very cute boutique down on Christopher St where I hunt for cute dresses and accessories, and some gals (who were coincedently on a weekend getaway to NY) who graciously let us photograph their looks. Thanks Ladies!

Here's a list of 5 Party Getaway Pieces you shouldn’t leave without.

One-Piece Outfits always do the trick - like this season’s floral/ patterned short rompers. They're great for heading to the beach, sightseeing, or even heading to a bar - as long as you accessorize it right. Long pants rompers are also a good move for chilly days/nights, and look great with heels or flats.
Dresses are a no brainer. What I'm absolutely loving now is multi-way dresses - like the ones at American Apparel - that can double as a skirt. When packing up your dresses don't be afraid to pair them with a jacket of another pattern - as long as the patterns don't compete for attention.

Always bring a jacket - its essential. This season I'm loving anorak’s. The can be dressed up or down and will take you into Fall. The jacket pictured is from Top Shop and is water proof.

Pretty Sandals - Pretty flat sandals dress up simple looks but are still comfy enough to walk around in. I love jeweled ones and of course metallics (I'm a metallic fanatic!). Pretty sandals are like jewelry for your feet and so sexy. I'm over gladiator flats though. You might still wear a pair from last year - but don't bother investing in a new pair - there's just too many other options to chose from ( like the cute gold studded ones worn by the Street Chic lady in the black and white). And for petite women especially, gladiators can cut your leg in a way that makes you seem shorter. No bueno.

Gold Accessories are my FAV for trips. They glam up everything and look phenomenal with a tan.

Happy Travels!

Burberry Beauty launching this summer

Burberry a label known for luxury fashion will introduce Burberry Beauty this summer. The collection will be a full range of cosmetics,  a 96-unit makeup line, which draws inspiration from the brand’s iconic trenchcoat
including blush, pressed powder, powder foundation, liquid foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipgloss, lipstick and mascara.

Burberry's Christopher Bailey told WWD: "It started because I felt that, at shows and the shoots, the whole attitude is epitomized through the shoes, the bags, the clothes, the accessories, but then the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing makeup, I felt like we weren't able to get the right attitude. It was either caked-on makeup or then just the wrong colors, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for makeup. I wanted it to be this kind of effortless elegance. Like the trenchcoat, it can be worn anywhere and at any time."

The trench theme is recurring throughout the collection, down to the details. Its beige outer cartons are reminiscent of the coat's fabric, while the packaging itself is etched with the brand's signature check plaid. The trench swayed the designer's choice of makeup shades, too. "I liked the idea of taking the trenchcoat and the weather as the two things that influence and define the colors," said Bailey. "You've got the naturals from the trenchcoats and from the weather you've got these beautiful stormy grays and stormy blues. Then, when the sun comes out, you've got this glow and you've got lighter tones, as well. "

The coordinating campaign, shot by famed photographer Mario Testino, features models Lily Donaldson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Nina Porter sporting Burberry trenchcoats. Multiple versions of the ad were shot, with each image incorporating a different makeup focus.

The collection will retail between $24 (lipliner) to $59 (foundation) at U.S. Nordstrom locations beginning in July.

Fashion In Film

In the past ten years we have seen films be based off of Fashion and the Fashion Industry even on TV you can see shows such as "Project Runway" "Launch My Line" "America's Next Top Model" & "Ugly Betty" just to name a few.

Fashion made its first splash in Hollywood back in the late 1920's with the MGM Costume Designer Gilbert Adrian, or more commonly known as Adrian.  From 1928 - 1941 Adrian designed all costumes for MGM's leading lady's of film such as Greta Garbo, Norma Sheerer, & Joan Crawford.  A perfect example of his genius with design is in the 1939 classic "The Women" staring  Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, & Norma Sheerer.  This all women cast shows how he could identify with each women's character and who they were and in so doing he created some of the most timeless and classic pieces to date.

Here is one design of Adrian's as worn by Joan Crawford

1932 MGM publicity still for "Grand Hotel"

Any movie from the dates of 1928 - 1941 will have wonderful designs in clothing that you can see where our fashions now have stemmed from.

One of my favorite movies is the first real movie about a girl and her love of everything shiny and fashionable, yes my friends I am speaking of the 1961 classic "Breakfast At Tiffany's" Staring the amazing Audry Hepburn.
The film showed how a modern woman in 1961 lived her single life in NYC and all the amenity's that came with it!

Costume Designer: Edith Head

Publicity still from Paramount Pictures 1961

"How To Marry A Millionaire" staring Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, & Lauren Bacall was a 1953 classic film wherein three women living in NYC band together to find men who suited there needs (Millionaire's)
Costume Designer: Edith Head

"My Fair Lady" Staring Audry Hepburn 1964
This is THE movie that got me into the fashion industry for the dress Hepburn wore in the horse racing scene.
The movie follows the story of a simple flower girl in Edwardian London during the early 1900's who is "spotted" by a professor and his cohort who take this simple flower girl with ill speech and make her a respectable lady.

Costume Designer: Cecil Beaton

Many Movies were made since and fashion has become more of a center for TV and Major Motion Pictures.

However these movies listed here will show you how we have gotten to where we are today and may give us some insight as to where we may be going.

Get Primed

Makeup primers are a must have in your makeup bag. Using a primer helps makeup stay put longer and prepare the skin for makeup application. Primers are used after moisturizer and before foundation. Not only do primers prepare the skin for makeup application they also help to make the finished makeup appear more flawless because the skin’s surface is smoother once the primer is used.

There are many primers on the market today. Some have sunscreens to help protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays. There are primers that will absorb the excess oil in the skin and reduce the shine. Other primers will give the skin a glow, smooth lines and wrinkles, reduce redness, even the skin tone or moisturize the skin.

As a makeup artist or stylist, it’s a great idea to have primer in your makeup bag. There are several I recommend.

SmashBox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
(Manufacturers Description)

Create a perfect canvas for foundation application with this silky, lightweight blend of vitamins A & E, grape seed extract and green tea. Worn alone or under foundation to increase its longevity, our best-selling primer helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for flawless skin with a velvety-smooth finish. In a new square airless pump for freshness to the last drop.

Oil-free!

Winner of Best of Sephora Award for Best Primer, one of Marie Claire's "25 Products That Will Change Your Life", & an InStyle Best Beauty Buy. $36.00

Makeup Forever HD Micropefecting Primer
(Description from Sephora.com)

What it is:
A lightweight, oil-free complexion corrector that enhances the skin's texture and primes the skin for makeup application.

What it does:
HD Microperfecting Primer deeply nourishes, moisturizes, and softens the skin, creating a glowing effect. Creates a protective layer on the skin allowing foundation to glide on easily and last longer.
What else you need to know:
The Sephora-exclusive primer comes in six color-correcting shades and one transparent shade
Size: 1.01 oz $32.00

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
(Manufactures description)
Foundation Primer is a lightweight, creamy gel meant to be used prior to foundation, creating an invisible layer that acts as a buffer to outside elements.

Just as a painter "primes" a canvas, Foundation Primer - the original - was created by Laura Mercier in 1995 to "prime" the skin

Colorless gel leaves makeup looking fresh and colour-true the entire day

Ideal for normal and combination skin

Vitamins A, C, and E act as antioxidants and protect the skin from harmful, aging effects of the environment

Cooling Foundation Primer in the refrigerator is refreshing for the skin and reduces puffiness

1.7 fl. oz./50ml  $30.00
